We are having a BBQ fundraiser on Auguat 18 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the QH dairy on 50th West. The battle goes on in the courts now since the current mayor has ignored us citizens. Our lawyer likes our chances on the appeal and we ask you to not give up either.

Council member Marquez complained about our announcement video. Our video has generated a lot of Press attention. And if you are one of the people in the minority who think we need another Walmart in our valley, I would encourage you to read these damaging facts about Walmart. There is also a thought provoking video from a husband and wife team that graphically depicts some of our concerns. The video lasts about 52 minutes and has commercials embedded in it. And in case you have not heard, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich agrees with us about the impact of these projects. We have a copy of his Press Release available for download.

Some of you are saying, "So what's wrong with Wal-Mart?"

1. A Wal-Mart or any other "Super Store" would completely change the small town quality of life that we enjoy in Quartz Hill.

2. Across the street from a high school? There are already Traffic Concerns, Wal-Mart Sells Alcohol, Tobacco and Weapons and provides a haven for Transient Campers. This list goes on and on.

3. This land was annexed by Lancaster so all the Tax Revenue would go to The City of Lancaster leaving the community Quartz Hill with nothing but blight and congestion.

4. Furthermore, this company does not provide healthcare for their thousands of employees. They
encourage them to “use the system” and get on medi-care, free lunch programs, etc. Who do you
think is paying for all this?
